In 2009, Franciscan Health Olympia Fields Comprehensive Cancer Institute was approved as a Teaching Hospital Cancer Program by the American College of Surgeons. Approval as a teaching hospital cancer program is only given to facilities that are associated with a medical school and offer the full range of diagnostic and treatment services. This designation allows us to create a team environment with a strong emphasis on collaboration and critical thinking. This means that you can be assured of the most advanced care possible.
Franciscan Health Olympia Fields - Breast Health & Wellness Center
Digital mammography delivers higher quality and more accurate results, especially for women under 50 or with dense breast tissue. Computer-Aided Detection (CAD) assists the Radiologist in observing any areas that may require further study and we can provide most patients, with same-day results. With digital mammography your images are safely archived, easily accessed, and electronically portable. Our mammography screening appointments are generally available within 72 hours.

In 2012, Franciscan Health Olympia Fields Breast Health Center became one of the first in the Chicago Metropolitan area and the first in the Southland to have the Hologic Dimension Digital 3D Tomosynthesis System.
Tomosynthesis is an advanced and revolutionary technology that gives Radiologists the ability to identify and characterize individual breast structures without the confusion of overlapping tissue. During a tomosynthesis scan, multiple, low-dose images of the breast
are acquired at different angles. These images are then used to produce a series of one-millimeter thick slices that can be viewed as a three dimensional reconstruction of the breast.
Our team of board-certified and fellowship-trained oncologists, radiologists, and dedicated breast surgeons are specially trained in the diagnosis and treatment of breast health issues. We also have registered Mammography Technologists and Nurse Navigators who work with the latest technologies for the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer.
In addition to mammography, we also offer breast MRI and breast ultrasound. Franciscan Health also offers stereotactic, MRI and ultrasound-guided biopsies to determine if a tumor is malignant. Additionally, we conduct bone density screenings, which can perform complex intravertebral scans.
We also offer a private mammography waiting area where patients are invited to change into spa-like bathrobes. From outstanding professional expertise to advanced revolutionary technology, convenient scheduling and an easily accessible, dedicated facility with all the amenities needed to maximize your comfort, you'll find it all here at Franciscan Health.
